Celebrate the Earth
The Twelve Days of Earth Day Celebration will begin with an event on
Thursday, April 11th at 10:00 am. The City of Cannon Beach and Cannon
Beach Elementary School will
celebrate the return of the tufted puffins to their nesting sites on
Two classes from Cannon Beach Elementary School who have been studying
the tufted puffins will assemble on the beach in front of Haystack Rock,
carrying banners to welcome their favorite pelagic bird back to nest.
This event kicks off the Twelve Days of Earth Day celebrations. The
town will come together to host engaging exhibits, innovative lectures
and special events. This year the celebration will include a weekend
long Birdathon starting Friday, April 12th. Check out the schedule for
The Twelve Days of Earth Day Committee are a dedicated group of
volunteers. Our mission is to provide a platform for education and
celebration of our Earth, our waters and our air, with a special
emphasis on the yearly celebration of Earth Day. We are a subcommittee
of the City of Cannon Beach Parks and Community Services Committee.
Our goal is to be an inclusive community group, working to ensure and
provide access to current environmental information and educational
opportunities to our residents and visitors alike.
